About
Eugene J. Cherny, MD, FACS, is a board-certified plastic surgeon specializing in procedures for the face, breast and body. He has more than 18 years’ experience helping his Des Moines-area patients improve their appearance and confidence by providing them with beautiful, natural-looking aesthetic enhancements. Dr. Cherny’s record of surgical excellence has been acknowledged by the Consumers Research Council of America, which has listed him multiple times in its prestigious publication, the Guide to America’s Top Surgeons. He is a retired United States Army surgeon, and during his service Dr. Cherny received the coveted Army Achievement Medal and National Defense Service Medal. He has been featured on several media outlets, including ABC Channel 5 and NBC Channel 13.
Dr. Cherny recognizes the importance an attractive appearance plays in one’s self-confidence and success. He is dedicated to providing his patients with outstanding aesthetic enhancements that improve proportion, restore youthfulness and enhance self-esteem. To achieve the best possible surgical results, Dr. Cherny works closely with all of his patients to develop highly individualized treatment plans that reflect their unique desires and needs. Dr. Cherny understands many patients feel apprehensive about plastic surgery procedures. He and his friendly team of medical professionals strive to create an environment where patients can relax and feel free to voice any concerns they might have. Dr. Cherny also welcomes patients’ questions, and he takes the time to provide detailed answers. To help his patients learn more about their plastic surgery options, Dr. Cherny holds a monthly open house where potential patients can meet him, ask questions and observe him performing certain cosmetic procedures.
At Dr. Cherny’s state-of-the-art facility, patients can choose from a variety of plastic surgery procedures. He offers breast treatments such as breast augmentation, lift, reduction, nipple repair and gynecomastia (enlarged male breasts) treatment; body contouring procedures such as tummy tuck, liposuction, buttock implants and arm lift; and many facial enhancement procedures such as facelift, brow lift, otoplasty (ear surgery) and rhinoplasty (nose surgery). In addition, patients can also receive a variety of non-surgical cosmetic treatments, including laser spider vein removal, laser skin resurfacing, facial peels, microdermabrasion and facial injectables, such as Botox and Prevelle.
Eugene J. Cherny, MD, FACS, received his undergraduate degree from Windham College in Putney, Vermont, graduating with honors. He earned his Doctor of Medicine degree from Rush Medical College in Chicago. He completed both his general surgery and plastic and reconstructive surgery residencies at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. In addition, he has received specialized training in microsurgery of the hand. Dr. Cherny currently serves as an Adjunct Professor of Plastic Surgery at the College of Osteopathic Medicine and Health Sciences at Des Moines. He is an active member of several highly regarded professional associations, including the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, the American College of Surgeons, the American Cleft Palate-Craniofacial Association, the Iowa Medical Society and the Polk County Medical Society.
