He earned his medical degree from Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia, graduating with honors. Dr. Brenman continued his surgical training at Pennsylvania Hospital with a five-year residency in general surgery. He went on to complete his plastic surgery residency at Duke University Medical Center. He also completed a hand and microsurgery fellowship at the University of Louisville.

Dr. Brenman stays abreast of the latest innovations in plastic surgery through a continued commitment to his education by attending frequent national meetings. As a Clinical Instructor at the University of Pennsylvania, he is also actively involved in teaching residents and medical students.

Dr. Brenman maintains memberships with a number of prominent professional medical societies, including the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, the Pennsylvania Medical Society, the Northeastern Society of Plastic Surgeons and the Professional Team Physicians. In addition, Dr. Brenman is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons.
