Gregg A. Helvey, DDS, MAGD, is a highly trained cosmetic dentist who is part of an elite group of ceramists and dentists who holds expertise in cosmetic and reconstructive dentistry. Dr. Helvey has established himself as a prominent figure in the cosmetic dentistry field through his outstanding work at his practice in Middleburg, as well as his role in educating future cosmetic dentists as an Adjunct Associate Professor at the Virginia Commonwealth University School of Dentistry. His vast expertise and his sterling reputation among his peers led to his inclusion on the editorial boards of several prominent clinical publications, including Practical Procedures and Aesthetic Dentistry, Inside Dentistry, and Functional Esthetic and Restorative Dentistry.
Dr. Helvey is dedicated to providing his patients with the best cosmetic dentistry treatments available, including porcelain veneers, bonding, enamel shaping, dental implants, tooth whitening and ceramic tooth restoration procedures.
Dr. Helvey’s office is equipped with several state-of-the-art technologies that allow him to practice a variety of advanced dental techniques. This includes the Cerec System, which is a computerized design and manufacturing instrument that creates customized porcelain crowns, inlays and onlays for his patients during a single visit. In addition, the facility is equipped with a soft-tissue laser that allows Dr. Helvey to treat gum disease in a gentle and non-invasive fashion. Other equipment includes computer imaging that can show simulations of patients’ new smiles prior to treatment. Dr. Helvey implements a variety of diagnostic procedures including a TMJ Doppler (auscultation) instrument that detects sounds in the jaw joint that aids in the diagnosis of temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorder.
Gregg A. Helvey, DDS, MAGD, earned his dental degree at Georgetown University School of Dentistry before serving two years in the United States Air Force. Upon completing his two-year residency in general dentistry, he opened his private practice in reconstructive and cosmetic dentistry in Middleburg in 1978. Dr. Helvey earned Mastership designation from the Academy of General Dentistry (MAGD) in 1997 – one of the highest honors awarded by the Academy of General Dentistry.
In addition to serving on the editorial boards of several dental journals, Dr. Helvey has also been published in a variety of peer-reviewed journals. He is frequently invited to lecture at prominent national and international dental conferences.
