Dr. Stephen Updegraff, MD, FACS
About
Stephen Updegraff, MD, FACS, received his undergraduate degree from Eckerd College and his medical degree from the Pennsylvania State University School of Medicine. He completed his transitional internship at the Louisiana State University School of Medicine Charity Hospital in New Orleans and his ophthalmology residency at the Louisiana State University Eye Center. He then received advanced fellowship training in cornea, refractive and laser surgery at the Hermann Eye Center at the University of Texas-Houston. Throughout his career, Dr. Updegraff has received numerous honors and awards for his innovation and outstanding accomplishments in the field, including the Kritzinger Award from the International Society of Refractive Surgery and the South African Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery; the Achievement Award from the American Academy of Ophthalmology; and the Kadel Award for contributions in science from Eckerd College. He is a founding member of the American College of Ophthalmic Surgeons, a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, and a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery and the International Society of Refractive Surgery.
