Dr. Richard C. Rothman, M.D.
About
Dr. Richard Rothman obtained his undergraduate degree from Northwestern University in Chicago. He began his focus in refractive surgery when he completed a research fellowship at the Harvard Medical School, Eye Research Institute where he participated in scientific work that led to the development of the Theratears artificial tear drop. He performed his residency in ophthalmology at Georgetown University Medical Center in Washington, DC, and completed specialty fellowship training in cornea, refractive surgery, and external disease at Corneal Consultants, Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary of Harvard Medical School.
During his fellowship he was fortunate to have worked and studied with some of the early pioneers in refractive surgery. He is an active member of the major ophthalmology associations, including the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery. Dr. Rothman also has considerable clinical experience outside of ophthalmology, serving previously as an emergency medicine and family practice physician.
