Dr. Peter S. Hersh, MD
About
Peter S. Hersh, MD, completed his undergraduate education at Princeton University and earned his Doctor of Medicine degree at Johns Hopkins Medical School. He completed his ophthalmology residency at the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary at Harvard Medical School, where he subsequently received fellowship training in corneal surgery. Dr. Hersh served full time on the faculty of Harvard Medical School before founding the Cornea and Laser Eye Institute in 1995. He has traveled worldwide to lecture on topics pertaining to laser vision correction and has authored 4 textbooks and more than 100 journal articles and book chapters on topics related to eye care and vision correction.
In addition to leading a busy practice, Dr. Hersh currently serves as a professor of ophthalmology and director of the Cornea and Refractive Surgery Division at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey (UMDNJ) Medical School and a visiting research collaborator at Princeton University. Dr. Hersh is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American College of Surgeons and the Cornea Society. He has been elected into the prestigious American Ophthalmological Society and is on the Board of Governors for the New Jersey Academy of Ophthalmology. In addition, Dr. Hersh holds memberships in the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery and the International Society of Refractive Surgery.
