Dr. Francis Johns Jr., MD

Francis R. Johns, MD, FACS, is board certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery, and has helped thousands of Pittsburgh-area patients achieve their aesthetic goals.

Dr. Johns is dedicated to the pursuit of excellence in aesthetic plastic surgery, and he skillfully blends his surgical expertise and refined artistic vision to produce pleasing, natural-looking results. His surgical abilities and research contributions have been recognized through first place awards in the Virginia American College of Surgeons Research Competition and the Straumann Resident Research National Competition.

Dr. Johns’ treatment philosophy is based on the idea that every patient has unique needs and concerns, which is why he consults extensively with each patient to develop highly customized treatment plans. Dr. Johns understands that undergoing plastic surgery can be a life-changing decision, and therefore he spends as much time as necessary addressing all of his patients’ questions. This approach – combined with Dr. Johns’ extensive experience and friendly, patient nature – helps reduce anxiety and make the treatment experience as pleasant as possible.

Francis R. Johns, MD, FACS, received his Bachelor of Science degree, graduating summa cum laude, from the University of Pittsburgh, where he also earned a Doctor of Dental Medicine and a Doctor of Medicine degree. Dr. Johns completed his residency in oral and maxillofacial surgery at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, and he served his plastic surgery residency at the renowned University of Virginia Health Center. Dr. Johns is a strong believer in continuing education, and he routinely attends advanced seminars and courses to stay abreast of the latest plastic surgery techniques and treatments. Dr. Johns is also a published author with more than twenty publications to his credit. His professional affiliations include active membership in the American Society of Plastic Surgeons.
