Dr. Reena Patel, MD

Reena N. Patel, MD, is a board-certified ophthalmologist with fellowship training in cornea and laser vision correction. Trained in all-aspects of general ophthalmology, Dr. Patel specializes in LASIK refractive surgery and the medical and surgical management of corneal diseases.

A recognized leader in the field of laser vision correction, Dr. Patel is widely respected for her expertise. She is a recipient of the American Medical Association Physician’s Recognition Award, and has been honored as one of “America’s Top Ophthalmologists” by the Consumer’s Research Council of America.

Dr. Patel is the founder and head surgeon of Wichita Vision Institute, a premier vision correction facility catering to the eye care needs of patients from Kansas and throughout the United States.

Reena N. Patel, MD, received her Bachelor of Arts in Biology from Northwestern University before earning her Doctorate of Medicine with honors and distinction from the University of Nebraska Medical Center. Following medical school, Dr. Patel participated in a select internship program at the world famous Mayo Clinic, and completed her ophthalmology residency at Tulane School of Medicine, serving as Chief Resident for five months. Dr. Patel’s formal training culminated with the completion of a cornea fellowship at the University of Oklahoma’s Dean McGee Eye Institute, through which she specialized in corneal external disease, complex cataract surgery and refractive surgery. Dr. Patel’s experience and surgical prowess is such that she has been included in a variety of publications geared towards eye care. She has played a major role in the research and development of new treatment modalities, and has been invited to present her findings at various national and international eye meetings.

Dr. Patel is affiliated with a number of professional medical societies, some of which include: The American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Medical Association, the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Society, the International Society of Refractive Surgery, the Kansas Medical Association, the Medical Society of Sedgwick County, the Mayo Alumni Association, and the Alpha Omega Alpha Society.
