About
Tariq Qamar, MD, received his undergraduate degree from the University of Kansas, graduating with Highest Distinction as a member of the Phi Kappa Phi Academic Honor Society. After graduation, Dr. Qamar remained in Kansas to attend the University of Kansas School of Medicine on an academic scholarship. While attending medical school at KUMC, he was elected as a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. Dr. Qamar participated in an internship program at the Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center in Phoenix, AZ before traveling to the University of Missouri in Columbia to complete a residency at the Mason Eye Institute. His ophthalmology training culminated with participation in a mini-fellowship in refractive surgery with world-renowned refractive surgeon Dr. Vance Thompson in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Participation in this fellowship involved study of procedures including radial keratotomy (RK), astigmatic keratotomy (AK), photo-refractive keratectomy (PRK), phakic intraocular lens implantation (phakic IOL), and LASIK.
Dr. Qamar is a member of a number of professional medical societies, some of which include: Alpha Omega Alpha, the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, and Phi Kappa Phi.
Tariq Qamar, MD founded Q Vision, a state-of-the-art vision correction facility. This Arizona-based practice brought the first vision correction laser to Scottsdale in 1996 and today provides patients with a full spectrum of advanced vision correction options, including Custom Wavefront LASIK, LASEK, and PRK.
Tariq Qamar, MD, is a board-certified ophthalmologist with specialty training in LASIK. Prior establishing Q Vision, Dr. Qamar practiced at Sight Foundation, P.A. in Fort Lauderdale, FL. In addition to performing LASIK and other vision correction procedures, Dr. Qamar is an active educator in the field, having lectured at several local, state, and national eye meetings.
