Dr. Vance M. Thompson, MD
About
Vance M. Thompson, MD, received his undergraduate degree from the University of South Dakota before earning his Doctorate of Medicine from the University of South Dakota, School of Medicine. Following medical school, Dr. Thompson participated in a select year-long internship at McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls. He then completed his ophthalmology residency at the University of Missouri-Columbia and his refractive surgery fellowship with Dan Durrie, MD, at the Hunkeler Eye Centers in Kansas City.
In addition to founding his own private practice, Dr. Thompson currently serves as an assistant professor of ophthalmology at the University of South Dakota, School of Medicine. He is a past Director of Refractive Surgery at Ophthalmology, Ltd., in Sioux Falls and serves as a leading researcher in the development and refinement of laser and implant vision correction. Having been published extensively in journals and books, Dr. Thompson also spends a great deal of time lecturing and teaching refractive surgery to thousands of eye surgeons around the world.
