Winston Chamberlain, M.D., Ph.D., earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology at the California Institute of Technology (Caltech) in Pasadena, California. After being accepted in the elite Medical Scientist Training Program sponsored by the United States National Institutes of Health, he performed important immunology research at the University of Colorado in Denver, earning a Doctor of Philosophy degree (PhD) in immunology. Subsequently, Dr. Chamberlain also earned a Doctor of Medicine degree from this institution. He served his internship at Arrowhead Regional Medical Center in Colton, California, and completed his ophthalmology residency and fellowship training in cornea and refractive surgery at the University of California at Irvine.
Dr. Chamberlain has contributed significantly to the advancement of the knowledge of the eye’s immune system and laser-guided corneal transplants by performing advanced research in these areas. He has also conducted studies exploring the results of surgery in patients receiving different types of corneal transplants, the results of which have been presented at several prominent ophthalmology conferences.
